Downflow Booths / Containment Systems

The LFI Downflow Booth is a self contained system providing the highest levels of operator protection from potentially harmful airborne contaminants generated during potent or non-potent manual powder/compound handling operations such as: weighing and sampling of raw materials, manufacture of tablets and capsules, packaging, charging and dispensing. Achieving low OEL’s without the need for supplementary protection, the booth also provides product protection from surrounding area contamination by creating a clean processing zone minimizing cross contamination risk from other products/processes. The booth is designed to be fitted with a moveable operator barrier to achieve locally lower OEL values, if required.

The vertical laminar flow provides up to an average of 135 FPM of Laminar HEPA filtered air, which is then exhausted at the rear of the booth, through high-efficiency primary HEPA filters, Bag-in / Bag-Out optional, and recirculated down through secondary HEPA filters housed in the ceiling grid. A percentage of fresh makeup air, typically 10% of volume, is induced into the recirculation cycle as the corresponding amount is bled off. Operator protection is provided to 50 µg/ m3.



Non-Potent Downflow Booth


Constructed of 304 or 316L 14 & 16 GA Stainless steel with 35 RA finish. Each system incorporates “panelized construction” with internal welds only, ground smooth and polished. The filter knife-edge is formed and continuously welded into the main unit that penetrates a perimeter downstream gel tough contained on the filter. Interior sloped panel behind pre-filter to facilitate washdown. Sprinkler drops and test ports supplied as required.

Exhaust direct drive inverter duty motors and blowers accessed internal to booth, 460V/3/60Hz.

Final Filter Gel-Seal HEPA filters rated to 99.99% efficient at 0.3 microns, incorporating penetration of the knife-edge mount as an integral part of the unit, eliminating leak points. Easily replaceable roomside.

Modular design allows for out of the box turnkey assembly. All internal components completely wire and supplied with plugs.

A dedicated Local Operator Panel containing VFD, Photohelic gauge, pressure monitoring system to indicate Hi/Low condition (audible & visual alarms), optional auto speed compensation for filter load. Main power and Run status indicator lights and lockable disconnect switch are all standard. All wiring is in accordance to UL guideline for control panels. Optional remote panel for mounting outside of the booth in technical space and would consist of VFD, mains and fuses, outputs and terminations.

Lighting: Full booth illumination from either teardrop or recessed fluorescent or LED lighting. Flourescent and teardrop feature energy saving smart ballasts.

Bag-In / Bag-Out 3 Stage Filtration System featuring High Capacity Gasket seal filters and prefilters contained in a stainless steel Safe Change Housing. Ceiling mounted Terminal Gel Seal HEPA filters accessed internal to booth. Bleed filter optional.
